The AFM Commander is Brigadier RC Montanaro, AFM and the Deputy Commander AFM is Colonel C Vassallo, AFM. The goals of the AFM are: preserving the military organization; efficiently defending the island’s integrity on the lines of the defense role established by the government; fighting terrorism and illicit drug trafficking; operating search and rescue services; engaging in anti-illegal immigrant and anti-illegal fishing operations and more.
In addition to its regular work, the Armed Forces of Malta supports the Malta Police Force as well as other such governmental/official organizations when circumstances call for it as well as in the case of national emergencies.
The AFM is continuously working to improve its services as well as the quality of life for those working and residing in Malta.
